Well, this is a funny move…

Blake Lively is now seeking a court order to block Justin Baldoni and his legal team’s “continuing demands” to get a look at her communications with Taylor Swift. How inneresting.

Yes, after the It Ends With Us director’s $400 million defamation suit against her was dismissed, Blake has very much stepped into a more heroic role. She looks to be protecting her former BFF — even embarrassing Tay’s enemies a bit in subpoenaing Scooter Braun. But this is the most overt olive branch yet.

See, Tay was really upset with being involved in this lawsuit at all. We’ve heard she was particularly embarrassed about everything coming out. And then, of course, actually being subpoenaed…

So now Blake is acting as Tay’s defender, trying to keep her from being involved? Apparently. According to a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman, obtained by People, Blake says Justin’s team are asking her to show them some specific communications with Tay. Her team writes that Wayfarer and co. “have pursed [these communications] at the same time they have refused to produce to Ms. Lively the documents they publicly claimed to have received as part of a deal to withdraw their subpoenas to Ms. Swift and her counsel.” So she’s requesting “that she be relieved from producing documents responsive to” those requests.

The question is… are these documents they want the ones they told the court about? The ones where Blake allegedly threatened to release 10 years of the Karma singer’s personal text messages to her if she didn’t play ball and release a supportive statement? Because if so it’s pretty rich for her to play Tay’s protector now, considering she’s accused of extorting her with their communications.

The letter goes on to say there’s “good cause” for Blake not to have to give up these communications. That cause? They say it’s become the main “tactic” for Baldoni’s legal team’s “to make Ms. Swift and her fan base central to their media strategy against Ms. Lively.”

She’s saying that by making these claims about Taylor being mistreated… Team Justin are just riling up the Swifties, activating them like an army to put pressure on her.

So… she’s accusing Justin of using Taylor Swift’s immense fame and power as a way to threaten her? Because that really is rich — coming from the woman who had Tay show up to her apartment at the exact right time to intimidate Justin… and then wrote him a message about it comparing the pop star to her pet dragon! Yeah, we haven’t forgotten what she said about Tay being one of “those gorgeous monsters of mine.”

But Blake is still going high road here — she’s making it clear she’s now the one protecting Taylor from being involved in the legal drama. Her spokesperson told People:

“Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer parties are still demanding access to Taylor Swift’s private communications — despite having already subpoenaed and then withdrawn that subpoena after they ‘got all they needed.’ As reflected in today’s filing, their intent to drag Taylor Swift into this was evident as far back as August 2024, when the crisis PR firm led by Melissa Nathan included her in their ‘Scenario Planning’ document (Lively Amended Complaint, Exhibit D) and flagged the ‘TS fanbase’ as something to take ‘extremely seriously’ (Lively Amended Complaint, ¶214(b)). The ongoing attempts to once again try and use the world’s biggest star as a PR tactic in this matter reflects a public unraveling of epic proportions — and serves only to distract from the fact that Justin Baldoni’s lawsuits against Ms. Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and the New York Times have been entirely dismissed.”
