Martin Kove owes Bill Hader a milkshake.
After Kove, 78, bit his Cobra Kai costar Alicia Hannah-Kim at a fan convention over the weekend, a 2013 interview resurfaced of Hader, 47, telling Marc Maron of the “WTF” podcast about a bizarre incident in his early 20s.
According to Hader, he was once tasked with driving Kove to set each day.
“I’m driving him around in my s***ty car, and he got me lost on purpose,” Hader claimed. “He hadn’t read the script yet, so he was like, ‘Nah, you don’t take this. You take Havenhurst. What are you getting on the 405 for?’ And I had, like, a Thomas Guide on my lap.”
And that’s when it got weird.

“On the way back, we’re driving,” Hader continued. “It’s at night, and we’re driving down the freeway. He was like, ‘Bill, are you mad at me?’”
As someone yet to break into acting, Hader didn’t exactly feel like he could stand up to the established star.
“This is the guy from Karate Kid. This is my first Hollywood experience,” he said. “He goes, ‘There’s a McDonald’s right up here. Pull over, and we’ll get you a cookie. We’ll get a milkshake.’”
“He comes back out eating the chocolate cookie and the milkshake,” Hader continued. “And he just sits in the back and goes, ‘Come on, let’s go.’ It was the biggest f*** you.”
The two weren’t as friendly after that.

“It was a weird mindf*** of, like, ‘I’m gonna get you this thing,’ and then he ate it in front of me. And then I just drove home in silence,” Hader recalled. “Yeah, I drove him to work every day. And I didn’t talk to him after that. I just kind of stared straight ahead.”
Decades later, Kove finds himself in hot water after he said he was being playful but took things too far with Hannah-Kim, 37. Kove eventually apologized to his costar, according to a police report obtained by NBC. The actor also issued a statement on Wednesday, June 25, where he addressed the incident.
“I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia, a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position,” he said. “I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented coworker on Cobra Kai. I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior.”
