One of DidiFormer aides recall two conversations he says he had with them Cassie … Including one when he says Cassie told him why she couldn’t leave Didi.
David James He took the position on Monday in Didi’s federal trial and testified to the prosecution… He told the jury that he was with Cassie in Miami early in her relationship with Didi.
David says he worked for Didi from 2007 and 2009 and testified that he first met Cassie on Star Island in Miami, where Didi hired a yacht to convince her.
He told the jury that he was smoking cigarettes in the dock with Cassie… He testified that she told him, “Man, this lifestyle is crazy.” David says he told her she should leave if she thought it was crazy, and he says she replied, “I can’t. I can’t get out.”
David testified that Cassie told him that Didi was responsible for her career and music, paid for her apartment, gave her an allowance… “I didn’t think she could leave easily,” he told the jury.
David’s testimony seems to be in line with pre- Testimony from Kerry Morgan, Cassie’s ex-girlfriend, who said Cassie told her she couldn’t leave Didi because he was primarily responsible for her life — that is, her job, her car, and an apartment — and that Cassie would have lost her livelihood if Didi had left.
David said the second conversation took place in a taxi at the Sundance Film Festival… He said Cassie was very happy and wanted to tell him about the list of songs she created for a new album. He testified that she started telling him about the songs, but when the plaintiffs asked if he remembered the album that was released, David said he didn’t.
Didi’s former assistant also spoke on the platform about Didi dating a group of women at once, although he said Didi referred to Kim Porter as his “queen”. He said Didi once told him that he had Cassie where he wanted her, and that Cassie was “formable.”
David said he interviewed several times to be Didi’s assistant and remembered one meeting with an HR executive from Bad Boy, who he says told him, “This is Mr. Coombs’ kingdom and we’re all here to serve him.”
The court was adjourned for today while David was still on the podium, and it looks like he will resume his testimony Tuesday morning.
